Willows Farm on a Gorgeous Sunny Day

I’ve written a few posts now about our visits to Willows Farm in Hertfordshire! We love it there, it’s one of my favourite places to go with the kids. It’s not far from us and we always have such a fab time when we’re there! It’s two minutes from the motorway but yet it feels like you’re in the middle of the countryside when there!

We did the usual things when there…….

After we had lunch and a play in the fab indoor play area we went to see the new main attraction of the moment!

Willows Activity has welcomed a new arrival, Albie the donkey, born on Sunday 11 May to mother Gracie, who was also born at Willows 10 years ago. His father is Ned joined Willows two years ago as a rescue donkey.

Farmers Anna and Andrew Wolfe are very pleased with Albie’s progress so far, they said: “Gracie is a fantastic mum; as soon as Albie was born she was licking him clean and pawing at him to stand – this is to make sure that if there’s any danger, foals are up on their feet and can follow their mothers to safety. He was standing within half an hour and soon after was drinking her milk.”

“In fact, she’s every inch the proud mum, showing Albie off by staying near the front of the pen so that visitors can get a chance to see him. He is already a real little character – he is so inquisitive and seems to be loving the attention!”

Albie was just the cutest and it was very interesting how his mother was interacting with him, one could almost see what was going through her mind as she seemed to coaxing her baby into doing what he needed.

Before we left for home we had to have a hold of the guinea pigs……

Ah it was a great day out. We had a lovely time and because we went during the week it was unusually quiet. The beautiful weather and being outside in beautiful surroundings with my children was perfect!

Linking up with the lovely Coombe Mill…. now that’s a farm I’d love to visit too one day 🙂
