During the half term (I know, I know… I’m a bit behind!) I had arranged a play date with a friend and his Mummy from my twins class.
We initially wanted to go to an inside play area, well I did, the thought of grabbing a coffee and sitting down somewhere warm for a good old chin wag while the kids play is my idea of a good time these days!
But on this last day of the week (Friday), word had got back to twins friends Mummy that our play area of choice had been soooo busy because of the school holidays and the cold weather, that there were queues for up to an hour to get in!!
So, against my better judgement, I agreed to meet at the park instead. It WAS reasonably sunny in the morning and it DID mean I would save myself a small fortune so the park it was.

O with the Teddy from school… I wonder how long I can drag the story of the ‘teddies from school’ on for lol
By the time we’d met up and grabbed a coffee (of course), the sun had gone in and the wind was already howling around the massive open space that was the park! There was a few other friends there so the kids didn’t notice the cold as much as us adults, but boy was I glad I had my hat, hehe!!
As a final treat we went on the little train at the park which the kids love. I was surprised it was up and running actually, I can’t remember it being on so early in the year.
What we weren’t expecting was this….

Once we’d got round the corner, we could see the whole route was waterlogged. I was looking at it thinking Oh my god, this train surely isn’t going to drive through THIS?! I was sincerely hoping the train wouldn’t break down, I only had my Uggs on, I so knew I should’ve put my wellies on that day! I was genuinely worried too about my twins falling out into the swampy mass!!
We got off the train safely you’ll be happy to know, and headed home. It’s always nice to get in and snuggle up in the warm when we’ve been out in the cold!
What an unexpected train ride! A nice little adventure there #countrykids
Aw bless them they looked like they had a great time and particularly enjoyed the water ride on the train! Thanks for linking up and sharing their fun with Country Kids.
I bet they loved seeing the water splashing up! How cool to have the train in the park #countrykids
They thought it was brilliant, I think they were all slightly worried though!
