Willows Farm Fun in the Autumn Half Term

Just following on from my Pumpkin Patch post the other day, I wanted to write up about our whole day at Willows Farm as we had such a fantastic Autumn day out there.

Willows Farm Autumn

The beginning

We love Willows, I’ve made no excuses for that, I think I may have mentioned it once or twice on my blog but it’s such a fantastic place to visit. They always have something seasonal happening, constantly changing as the year progresses.

Of course, recently it’s been all about all things Autumn, harvest, halloween and animals getting ready for the Winter.

When we visited last week during half term, the weather was beautiful, a slight chill in the air but not too cold, and even though there is a fantastic indoor play area, it’s all about having fun outdoors when visiting Willows.

There really is so much to do.

On this day I’d taken one of my daughters friends too and the first thing they all did was head for the mini assault course to have a bit of a run around and work off some energy!

Getting tricky.....

Getting tricky…..

My darling boys have always been quiet and a little reluctant to try anything. Just an ordinary trip to any park, which they love, they still worry about all the apparatus; they don’t like to be pushed high on the swings, and when I say high I mean they hardly move lol. They are worried about going down slides and they go ever so slowly round the roundabout. They seem to panic and do everything cautiously, that’s not to say they don’t have fun, it’s just they have never been the types to run around in a crazy fashion like most kids!!

So to watch them letting go a little and really go for it on this day was a pleasure. A few months ago O would not have climbed up the rope fence! My boys seem to be growing in confidence all the time now and it’s amazing.

All pleased with themselves – both winners!!

Tristan the Tractor – we all sit rather high in a cart on the back as he trudges through great big puddles… my boys were fascinated with the huge wheels!

We also did jumping on the trampolines and bouncy castles. Looked at animals, before finishing up at the pumpkin patch which is huge – it covers the same area as three full-sized football pitches and apparently it prodcued one of the best pumpkin crops they’ve ever had at Willows.

We had a lovely day. It’s so difficult making time to get out and about sometimes but days spent like this are so worth it. I’m trying to make sure I visit Willows at least once per season and I have to say, Christmas is looking particularly magical! Not sure who’s more excited, me or the kids!

  1. What a great day of fun, the children obviously had a brilliant time on all the equipment and fun in the patch. It’s so lovely to watch our children grow and develop before our eyes – a heart swelling moment. Thanks for linking up and sharing your outdoor fun with Country Kids.

  2. I’d love to have seen the splosh of the water from that puddle! The gymnastic balance beam photograph is wonderful, especially with the light.
