An Unplanned Visit to Greenwich Park

The last Bank Holiday, which I think was two weeks ago, we made a spur of the moment visit to the beautiful Greenwich Park in London. We’d been somewhere else first so it was quite late in the afternoon when we arrived, good really as it meant it wasn’t so busy!

OH and I had all four kids plus Teen’s lovely girlfriend. He’s been going out with her for just over a year now (including a break at Christmas time and New Year) so we’re used to her being around and my daughter thinks she’s wonderful. This was the first time we’d taken her out with us all though on a family day out, but she just slots right in and it’s very easy :)

Belonging to the group of Royal Parks, Greenwich Park has some of the best views across the London skyline. You can see the Thames, the British Maritime Museum, Canary Wharf, St Pauls Cathedral, Battersea Power Station and the Millenium Dome among many other historical landmarks.

Greenwich park is also home to the Prime Meridian Line which sets the time for all the world, and the Royal Observatory.

Teenage loveTeen and his girlfriend. She’s super lovely, they are the same age but Teen is very tall and she is tiny :)

cutty sarkWe walked down into Greenwich village to see the Cutty Sark and take in the Thames.

greenwich tunnelThis tunnel travels beneath the Thames. It’s very old a creepy looking isn’t it? But the lift that takes you down to it is rather snazzy, it even has a seat :) You can take the winding stairs if you prefer!

greenwich park viewsIt’s quite easy to spend hours and hours taking in these views!

views greenwich parkMy children ran around,¬†carefree and loving it! The OH took that bottom photo of me whilst I was talking but I love the background so I’ve included it even though I look a bit odd hehe!!

Greenwich Park is such a lovely place and on a nice day the kids are more than happy to simply run around and enjoy the open space. If you’re a fan of the London skyline (as I am) then you’ll absolutely love it here!

  1. I’ve never been to Greenwich Park but I love the views you show, even on a misty day! I shall add this to our list of places to visit when we hit the big smoke next. Teen and his girlfriend look very comfortable together, I hope I get on with any future girlfriends as well, quite a daunting thought. Thank you for sharing on Country Kids
