This week it was all about Christmas in July. For all of you who don’t know what this is (I didn’t until I started blogging), it’s when brands show off their goodies for the coming Christmas to the press! It’s really very because the venues are all decked out for Christmas, they’re usually held in glamorous locations and they make it feel and look like christmas! There are trees, decorations, lights, presents and in some cases, snow!! It’s lovely to get a first glimpse of what’s coming to stores, to see prototypes of toys etc that will be ready for Christmas but aren’t quite finished yet. The big supermarket giants gave us a taste of their new products, literally… Lots of delicious Christmassy food to eat!
This week I visited a total of 11 events over three days and it was exhausting. I only had a short amount of time in between dropping the kids at school, jumping on a train into Central London, where ALL the events take place, then whizzing back and forth across town to different venues. Exhausting but worth it. To thank us for attending, we are usually treated to a goodie bag to take home with us, which can be filled with many a fabulous gift, or equally lots of tat!!
Day 180 – Finally allowed the kids to eat the Butlins chocolate bar that I brought home from Britmums Live.
Day 181 – Teen took his sister to see Malificent at the cinema. I dropped them there and OH picked them up. It was the last day it was showing and I didn’t fancy going so Teen offered which I thought was so cute! They both said the film was brilliant!
Day 182 – The first Christmas in July event. It was B & Q!
Day 183 – This photo was taken at the Waitrose event where we were treated to lots of food samples, including Heston Blumenthal’s new yummy ranges!
Day 184 – Believe it or not, this is a very intricate, amazing Christmas tree made entirely out of chocolate. It is hand made and would set you back £700 were you to buy it! It’s from La Maison du Chocolat… the tasting session in there was a bit nice I can tell you!
Day 185 – My twins sports day and this photo sums it up. They didn’t want to join in and they looked upset the whole time. Poor little things. Although H did manage a few events, neither enjoyed it.
Day 186 – My daughter had a friend over and they were making loom bracelets. Either by hand or on one of the many looms my daughter owns!
So there we have it. More Christmas in July events this week too as well as a secret blogging project that I’m involved with. It’s so secret in fact that even I have no clue what it is. All I know is that it’s organised by Tots100 and a few of us are getting together on Saturday to discover our mission…… I’m slightly worried at this stage now and wondering what the hell I’ve let myself in for!!
Watch this space!
