I am part of the #TeamHonkRelay – Sport Relief 2014

Yikes!! I have agreed to be part of the Team Honk Relay Team this year to raise money for Sport Relief 2014.

It’s a tough call from me to be honest because even though I’ve made a pledge to get fit this year (and I will), I haven’t really got into any form of fitness regime as of yet (I know, I know) and I’ve agreed to cycle 6-7 miles lol.

Yes folks, 6-7 MILES on a bike……I don’t even own a bike!

Oh, and I’ve never ridden a bike on the road before either… not looking good is it?!

But hey, that’s all part of the fun. I AM looking forward to it, I’m majorly excited. Need to get some practice in but with only two weeks left to go I’m a little concerned as I don’t know the route and I’m worried I’ll be too knackered to finish!

My friend has agreed to lend me her bike for the occasion, there are a few us doing the cycle ride and we’ve arranged to wear pyjamas or some other daft clothes for the ride so if you’re in the area on 4th February, please do cheer us on!

So what is it all about?

Well, firstly it’s all in aid of Comic Relief.

#teamhonk was the brainchild of bloggers Tanya and Annie when they first became involved with Comic Relief in 2012, visitng Ghana with them, along with third blogger Penny, to help live blog and tweet the charity’s 25th birthday celebrations. It generated over 250 blog posts and was hailed as a huge success.

Team Honk have also organised a Mount Snowden climb with a 20 strong blogger team and lots of other local events.

They were approached to organise something for this year which resulted in the 2014 Team Honk Lands End to John O’Groats person to person relay. With more than 200 bloggers and 3000 miles to cover in 30 regional teams, this is not going to be an easy feat!

As you can see, the relay is taking in pretty much every part of the UK. I, myself will be joining the St. Albans team who will be scooting, running, walking and cycling before jumping on a train for the handing over of the baton to the London team.

We want to raise as much money as we can as a team so please, please sponsor us by clicking on the following link and pledging any amount you like (every little helps)…..

You can also donate via your mobile phone, simply text: Text HONK to 70005 and donate £5 to Sport Relief .

We thank you in advance.

General Info:

The first ever Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games take place from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd March 2014. The public can join the fun and games by running, swimming or cycling their way to raising cash at over a thousand venues around the country, including the landmark events at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

As one of the biggest fundraising events, Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active, raise cash and change lives. The money raised by the public is spent by Comic Relief to help transform the lives of some of the poorest and most disadvantaged people both at home in the UK and across the world.

The Team Honk Blogger Relay starts in Lands End on the 12th January 2014 and finishes in John O Groats on the 23rd March 2014.

We aim to raise over £20,000 for Sport Relief.
