Kung Fu Panda 3 – At the Premiere

Last Sunday we were lucky enough to attend the European Premiere of the much anticipated, third Kung Fu Panda movie!

I even bagged a couple of spare tickets, so I took a good friend of mine who’s been through a tough time lately, with her two daughters. All fans of Kung Fu Panda, the children were mega excited, they couldn’t wait to get to the Odeon Leicester Square to watch it!

But before we headed into the cinema, there was plenty of excitement to be had on the red carpet!

Meeting Po was a highlight!

I have to admit to being a little starstruck when Hollywood stars Jack Black (who voices Po in the movie) and Kate Hudson (Mei Mei) arrived and were stood literally feet from us being interviewed by Alex Zane!

Kate looked gorgeous in a stunning pink gown and coat!

Also on the red carpet were The Vamps! They sing the theme tune for the film and were a super friendly bunch…. lead singer Bradley Simpson was more than happy to pose for a photo with our girls!

After being ushered into the cinema to take our seats… There was a fab warm up act to get all the kids worked up into a frenzy of fun and learning some kung fu dance moves, before The Vamps suddenly appeared and treated us to a special, surprise performance, including their own fabulous version of Kung Fu Fighting! It was, I have to say, absolutely amazing and literally brought the house down! If we weren’t particularly fans before, we definitely are now! My daughter LOVED it!

Alex Zane then returned to introduce the film, but he had a few people joining him too…. first bringing on to the stage The Vamps, then the Directors of the film, Alessandro Carloni and Jennifer Yuh Nelson, then finally Kate Hudson and Jack Black!

It was a great experience to be at this event with all these incredible people! Kung Fu Panda 3 is already a massive smash hit in the places around the world where it has already opened… and I’m so happy we got to be part of this European Premiere part of it’s journey!

Kung Fu Panda 3 – The Verdict

When Po’s long-lost panda father suddenly reappears, the reunited duo travels to a secret panda paradise to meet scores of hilarious new panda characters.  But when the supernatural villain Kai begins to sweep across China defeating all the kung fu masters, Po must do the impossible—learn to train a village full of his fun-loving, clumsy brethren to become the ultimate band of Kung Fu Pandas!

The film was a big hit with us. Lots of great characters and a gripping storyline. It was very funny… my little H who sitting beside me was cracking up the majority of the time! Po is incredibly likeable… Jack Black was perfect in this role! It had some poignant moments too with a lovely underlying message that we can all achieve things if we try hard enough!

As well as Jack Black and Kate Hudson, Kung Fu Panda 3 also features the voice talents of Bryan Cranston as Po’s long-lost panda Father Li, J.K. Simmons as Kai… plus Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu and more.

All the children loved the film and we would thoroughly recommend it for all the family! It’s one of those kids films that the parents will love too!

Opening in cinemas across the UK on March 11th.

Oddball and the Penguins

I love going to the cinema with my children. It’s always fun to watch something new and especially when it’s something we’re not familiar with…. it’s nice to be surprised.

That’s what it felt like with new film Oddball and the Penguins. I had no preconceptions about it because I hadn’t even heard of it.

Reading the synopsis….. a true story about a dog (Oddball) who helps save some penguins on a little Island off the coast of Melbourne, Australia…. I have to admit I wasn’t sure. It was being billed as a lovely family film though and my daughter absolutely loves animals so I knew we had to give it a go.

And boy was I pleasantly surprised.

Honestly, the film is absolutely brilliant!

As soon as it started, we were instantly captivated by the stunning backdrop of the Melbourne coastline and the wonderful characters. The gruff but cuddly Grandpa, Swampy, who was ever so loving and very funny; his cute granddaughter who became his little sidekick, the hero of the film, Swampy’s dog Oddball.. the Maremma Sheepdog, and of course the adorable little Penguins!

The Penguins live in a sanctuary which was once looked after by Swampy’s late wife. His daughter is now in charge but the numbers of penguins on the Island have significantly dropped due to foxes and if they don’t improve, the sanctuary will be shut down. With the prospect of his daughter and granddaughter moving away if the penguins can’t be saved, Swampy needs to do something fast.

Swampy discovers that Oddball has a wonderful, protective connection to the Penguins so, along with his beloved nine year old granddaughter Olivia, they formulate a plan!

Cue an adventure and a race against time.

Will they manage to save the sanctuary before it’s too late? Someone is determined to stop them…. but who?

We thoroughly enjoyed this film, it had a great storyline and my daughter fell in love with Oddball and the cute little penguins. I love the fact that it’s based on a true story. The film definitely brings a refreshing change from the usual cartoon kids films that seem to dominate this niche.

My daughter here meeting the star (not the actual dog from the movie but one of his relatives!) He actually came into the auditorium and watched the film!

Oddball And The Penguins is released across the UK on February 12th, in time for half term. It’s a great film that the whole family will love.
