After school freeze in the park

After nipping to the shop after school this week, my children announced they wanted to have a play in the park opposite.

I don’t do cold weather, so with temperatures barely above freezing my initial reaction was to fully decline!

But being the pushover Mum that I am I thought aww bless them… Ok I said just for 10 minutes though!

This particular playground is tiny so they really didn’t need long to have a go on everything!

I’m really glad we stopped to play for a while as it’s quite some time since we visited a playground and the kids really did enjoy themselves! They didn’t want to leave but my daughter started to complain about freezing numb fingers… the result of forgetting her gloves… so we made our way home and got cosy!

  1. It’s great you put aside your aversion to the cold and got outside with the kids. They look like they’re having a great time exploring the local park, sometimes all they need is a good run around a park they know. I bet they’re looking forward to it being a little warmer and getting a little longer out there. Thanks for linking up with me on #CountryKids

  2. They look like they had lots of fun, sometimes the small playgrounds can be the most fun

  3. Looks like they had great fun and with it being cold I dont imagine many parks will be busy. I am actually thinking of taking the kids to the swingpark near us if it stays dry over the weekend x

  4. Although it’s cold at least it gave the kids to release some pent up energy and get fresh air.

Is that astro turf in the playground? What a fab idea. My two have lived in two freezing countries now and they play out in all weathers (including -16 :D) I think your children would do very well in such conditions too by the looks of things! :D

PS. I don’t make them just in case you think I am some kind of awful Mother, it’s what they do at play time at school! :D

  7. The husbeast took the boys to the park on Saturday and they had a blast even though he was freeezing!

  8. It’s so nice to escape outdoors and blow away a few cobwebs even if it is chilly. Nice to get back in the warm afterwards though. Sounds like everyone had a good time :)

  9. Nothing better than a visit to the park to blow away the cobwebs, even if you get cold fingers and toes (any excuse for a hot chocolate)

  10. My kids are never too cold for a play at the park. Looks like they had fun x

  11. Snap on not doing cold weather, I’m more of a desert kind of girl! But it looks like you had a wonderful time though :)

  12. It’s good to get out when it’s dry at least after the wet winter we’ve had so far.

We love unplanned adventures like this – we went for ice cream a few weeks ago after school even though it was freezing outside x

  14. It is so good to get outside with the kids isn’t it. Even if the weather isn’t too great the kids don’t seem to mind x

  15. I love how this vile weather seems not to affect kids when they want to play, I am almost jealous!

  16. It doesn’t matter how tired children say they are after school, I find that they always enough energy for a trip to the park even in cold and wet weather. I hope they slept well that night!
