A Haunted Tour of London with Monster High

A couple of weeks ago we were invited to a fab event hosted by the lovely people at Mattel, the huge toy manufacturing giant! It was to celebrate the launch of their new Monster High DVD, Haunted.

As a huge fan of Monster High, my daughter was almost snapping my head off to say yes to the invitation, and the event did sound pretty amazing so of course we went along!

We met up in London’s Piccadilly, to have a very special tour of London on board our very own Monster High Bus!

The bus looked amazing on the outside and inside was even better, with creepy decorations and old fashioned lamps and curtains… it really added to the ambiance. Our tour guides were dressed up as creepy ghosts and their mission was to take us on a less traditional tour by informing us of the more sinister side of old London town!

Ghoulish stories, gruesome carry on’s from times gone by set against the backdrop of London’s oldest landmarks and streets…. we were told about the ghosts that frequent the Tower of London and the journey in which prisoners took when they were about to be be-headed. We heard tales from the Houses of Parliament and the old site of the London Dungeons, we learned about old Kings and Queens and hidden rivers. We visited Puddling Lane and passed the factory where the ‘Mad Hatters’ came from (I didn’t know they were actually real!) as well as many more tales that I really enjoyed, it was so interesting!

The tour guides were absolutely brilliant, funny but were able to bring an eerie chill to the air – I know my daughter was a bit creeped out at times…. especially when we had a ‘ghost’ on the bus that we had to get rid of! 😉

The tour came to a close at Hamleys, London’s famous toy store on Regent Street, where we were met by two real life Monster High students, Draculaura and Frankie Stein!

It was here that we were being treated to a special screening of the new Monster High movie. Hamleys is a very exciting place to be anyway but we felt even more privileged when we were taken into a party room off the 3rd floor which was filled with lots of food, drinks and sweets! The kids filled up their plates then settled down on chairs or over sized bean bags to watch the movie!

Even though my daughter is a huge fan of the dolls and has many of them, I haven’t seen any of the movies that have been made about the spooktacular school! This meant that it would be a whole new experience for me!

As a mum of 4, I’ve seen my fair share of kids films and I think I know what’s good, what captures a childs imagination and what really doesn’t! Monster High Haunted was a big hit, all the kids watching were absolutely transfixed and I have to say I got quite into it myself!

What is the film about? Here is the synopsis….

“When the ghouls of Monster High follow Spectra Vondergeist one day, they discover a creeperiffic Ghost World with an all-spirit school. But their scary-cute student bodies are hardly welcome with the very strict Principal Revenant, and she punishes Spectra with frightful detention chains that prevent her from re-joining Monster High. Now it’s up to the perfectly imperfect friends to take on ghostly forms in order to save one of their own from disappearing forever.”

My daughter loved it. A great film treat for all fans of Monster High, but even if you’re not a fan, it’s a film that you can enjoy!

After the screening we were given a tour of Hamleys and the children were allowed to play with and try out various toys on each of the SEVEN floors, before having a photo shoot with the brilliant Draculaura and Frankie Stein!

All the children took it in turns to have a picture as well as a group shot for publicity purposes, which they loved! And to top it off, my daughter was given a very exciting goodie bag to take home, filled with Monster High goodies, including this doll, which she has played with non stop since!

What a fantastic day we had, thank you ever so much to Mattel and Hamleys for inviting us.

The DVD is out now to buy, but for an extra treat for you, I am giving away a copy of the Monster High Haunted DVD, so just fill out the Rafflecopter box below.
